The following relics are being brought to OSMM by Fr. Dennis O’Neill for the June 12th through 13th Event! Fr. O’Neill has an extensive collection of relics at The Shrine of All Saints housed within the All Saints Parish (formerly St. Martha of Bethany Church in Morton Grove, Illinois.
Fr. O’Neill will give a presentation each day providing information about the relics
HESSE-DRMSTADT-ROMANOV RELIQUARY
This is a reliquary chest which belonged to the Dukes and Duchesses of Hesse for centuries. The last owner was the Hessian Princess Alix, who became the last Czarina of Russia, Alexandra. It was brought to Russia for her wedding to Czar Nicholas II
It contains the following relics:’
Mary Salome – front of a tibia
Mary Magdalene – upper tibia
Joanna, Wife of Chuza – tibia
Mary of Bethany – part of an iliac (hip bone)
Mary Jacobe (of Alphaeus) – part of a tibia
Mary of Cleophas – rib
Martha of Bethany = part of her pelvis
Alexandra of Rome – end of a left humerus
Theodora the Empress – part of her pelvis
signed and sealed by James Oliver Van de Velde, 2nd Bishop of Chicago, 2nd Bishop of Natchez, on April 17, 1854

You are free to come and go as you please during the open hours of the display of relics. Our Sanctuary is also home to numerous first class relics year-round which you are welcome to pray with. The OSMM Sanctuary is only open when we have retreats.

About Fr. Dennis B. O’Neill
Father Dennis B. O’Neill,76, was born in Chicago and attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine School, Quigley South, Niles College of Loyola University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English, and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. In addition to his master’s degree in divinity, he earned a licentiate in sacred theology at Mundelein. He is currently retired after serving in several parishes within the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Fr. Dennis served as pastor of St. Martha of Bethany Church in Morton Grove, IL from 2001 – 2021. He is the the curator of the Shrine of All Saints at St. Martha Church which features over 3,200 holy relics, including the bones of St. Peter and St. Benedict, hair from St. Thérèse of Lisieux and the incorrupt tongue of St. John Nepomucene. Fr. Dennis was instrumental in obtaining many of these relics as they became available through the closing of various churches and some even rescued from the Internet.
Father Dennis will give an explanation of the relics that are available for prayer and veneration.
