Why are you selling blessed items?

Our items are not blessed until after they are purchased. It is comparable to a person purchasing a sacramental and then taking it to a priest to have blessed.

Who blesses the sacramentals?

They are blessed with the prayers of the Traditional Latin Rite by a local Catholic priest.

Can I have an sacramental exorcised?

The Latin Prayers for blessing include a blessing of exorcism specifically for items with a St. Benedict Medal, oils, water, salt, and bells only.  All blessed items are free of evil spirits so no other prayer of exorcism is needed.

Can I mail you something to be blessed?

We are not able to accept items for blessing and re-shipping.

I got a tracking number, but I don’t see any information on it.

A tracking number is assigned as soon as we process an order. It may be up to a week before a priest is able to bless our items for shipping.

Why didn’t I receive my flag with my order?

Flags are shipped directly by TradFlags.com after they are blessed.

I thought buying blessed items is a sin.

It is – it is the sin of simony. The blessing of God is not for sale. Our store offers many sacramentals for purchase. It is only after you have placed your order that your items are blessed by a Catholic priest in the Traditional Latin Rite. Our products are not being sold with blessings, but as a courtesy we have them blessed for you before they are shipped. We know how difficult it can be to get your items blessed, especially for time-sensitive purchases like gifts.

What is a sacramental?

Sacramentals are sacred signs instituted by the Church with prayer. A medal or crucifix worn as jewelry is not automatically a sacramental by being worn; it becomes sacramental in the Church’s sense when it has been blessed as a devotional/sacramental object intended to dispose the wearer to prayer and virtue. We are pleased to offer complimentary blessings of all sacramentals after your purchase and before your items are shipped.

Can you bless scapulars?

We do not bless scapulars when you order one because scapulars are blessed when they are first received/“invested” (imposed) according to the Church’s rite—especially if the rite includes reception into a confraternity/association. For later replacements, you generally don’t need to have every new scapular blessed again, provided you are continuing the same devotion and (if applicable) the same indulgenced scapular attachment.

When a scapular should be blessed

If you are receiving a scapular for the first time, arrange for an authorized priest to do the blessing/imposition using the Church’s rite (often connected with enrollment if it is an association).

If you already were invested and you only need a replacement, you generally may wear an unblessed one.

The Church’s scapular rite is meant to be a real ecclesial act—done according to approved rites, with preparation and the proper blessing formula.
