Fr. Aidan Nichols, O.P. is one of the best-known and most respected theologians and teachers in the Church today.
Through his love of the sacred page and as faithful guide to the Church’s theological inheritance, he has helped many to encounter the Truth, who is Christ.
Born at Lytham St. Anne’s (England) in 1948, educated at Arnold School and the Universities of Oxford and Edinburgh. Aidan (John Christopher) Nichols entered the Order of Preachers in 1970 and was ordained priest in 1976. He has taught at the Seminaries of the Archdioceses of Birmingham (England) and Kingston (Jamaica), the Pontifical University of St. Thomas, Rome; the Studuim of the English Dominican Province at Blackfriars, Oxford; Providence College, Rhode Island; the Capuchin Franciscan Institute of Philosophy and Theology, Addis Ababa, and in the Theology Faculties of the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford in which latter he held the ‘Pope John Paul II Memorial Lectureship in Roman Catholic Theology’ between 2006-2008. He is currently staying with Canons Regular from St. Michaels’s Abbey, Orange County, CA, while seeking to discern where divine providence may be taking him next.
