In honor of the 100th anniversary of Our Lady’s appearance at Fatima, we will display our Fatima statue and relics throughout the year. The statue was handmade is Fatima for OSMM. In 2011, while on pilgrimage to Fatima we picked up the recently completed statue which was blessed by the Rector of the Fatima Shrine. Also shown are the Relics of Blessed Francisco and Jacinta. When their bodies were exhumed from the little cemetery in Alustrel, the coffins were opened. Jacinta was found to be incorrupt even though the bodies had been covered with lime in the thought that it would prevent the spread of the epidemic of the Spanish Flu. Materials gathered from the caskets are contained in this reliquary. The bodies of the two siblings were subsequently transferred to the Basilica of the Holy Rosary in Fatima.
To complete the display, we have added a first class relic of St. Pope John Paul II who is know as the Fatima pope and a first class relic of Padre Pio.
